Frame-Relay PVC bundle
In this short piece i would like to show how Frame-Relay PVC bundles work.
A PVC bundle is exactly what the name says. Its a bundle of PVC’s, with each PVC handling a certain Precedence, MPLS EXP or DSCP.
A requirement for the PVC bundle is that all IP Precedence or DSCP values will be handled by one of the PVC’s, so you need to set the “default” PVC unless
Quick Tip: SPD
One of my friends told me about a feature called SPD and whether i knew about it. I didnt so i decided to read a bit more about it.
SPD stands for Selective Packet Discard. As the name implies it has something to do with discarding packets.
PVC Interface Priority Queueing – PIPQ
New technology i just learned about! Its called PIPQ, and stands for PVC Interface Priority Queueing.
As the name implies, its a Queueing method, and its only for frame-relay.
It basically functions in the same way as a PQ scheme, in that it has 4 queues, high, medium, normal and low.
Lan QoS – going insane
I was doing some lan QoS yesterday evening. Specifically i wanted to mark some packets.
As usual, i wanted to create a policy-map, referencing some class-map, and then set the IP precedence value.
I tried to get this working for like 3 hours.
Lots of practice.
Been a few days since my last post.
During that time, I have taken quite a few practice tests to gauge where im at. I am also slowly progressing through the Exam Guide.
Also, in the near future im switching over to a new hosting service.
